Our deluxe double layer Kendogi is made from 100 % Bushu Shoaizome Indigo dyed cotton. A solid construction, with back-seam, this Kendogi will ensure you always look your best throughout your Kendo practice. Only the Kendogi that have been dyed using geniune Japanese Bushu Shoaizome produce the beautiful hues that all Kendoka know and love.
The reason Kendoka wear dark blue uniforms is because it is said that the warriors of old Japan would wear clothes dyed with real Aizome. It was believed that Aizome helped to stop bleeding, was antisceptic, insect repelleant and deodorant. The perfect cloth for the campaigning warrior, who perhaps would fall foul of injury, and possibly spend months away from home, without the chance to bathe.
